Deep into the coppice
I saunder in a trance
Firs and ferns wave to me
Boughs and branches too
But I know them not
A faint drizzle of rain
With a muddy grass path
Leeches leapt over me
Drained me of blood so red
But felt the pain not I
Just on and on
Flames of forest
Smiled on me
Rivers snaked through them
Waters sweet and warm
Alive with salmons red
They go home to lay and die
Beyond the trees green and sweet
Hills blue and dull-
The misty blankets
Home of giants and ogres
I looked not at them
I had my aim high
Upon the ground so high
To Him who saved me
Sifted me from the debris
I saunder in a trance
Firs and ferns wave to me
Boughs and branches too
But I know them not
A faint drizzle of rain
With a muddy grass path
Leeches leapt over me
Drained me of blood so red
But felt the pain not I
Just on and on
Flames of forest
Smiled on me
Rivers snaked through them
Waters sweet and warm
Alive with salmons red
They go home to lay and die
Beyond the trees green and sweet
Hills blue and dull-
The misty blankets
Home of giants and ogres
I looked not at them
I had my aim high
Upon the ground so high
To Him who saved me
Sifted me from the debris
